2022

Elisa Arce is a senior pursuing a major in Architecture as well as a minor in Studio Art. Her drawings are meant to capture the moment and feel of the very places she visited.

Gregory Boyce is a recent graduate of Judson with a major in Architecture and a minor in Psychology. He drew his inspiration from the interactions humans have with nature.

Stephanie Crismariu, a freshman at Judson University, is pursuing a major in Graphic Design as well as a minor in Marketing. Because family plays such an important role in her life, Stephanie draws most of her writing inspiration from them.

Matthew Hamon is a 5th year student who is studying Architecture and Worship Arts. “The Survivors” is a poem written in the aftermath of a crash he survived in April 2021. It aims to depict the struggle of survival in the aftermath of intense loss in a conversation with God.

Thomas Kurzynski is a spring 2022 graduate with a double major in business management and marketing. The inspiration for his poem “Pawprints in the Snow” was found in a Sunday afternoon observation of nature.

Josephine Myers is a sophomore majoring in accounting. In her free time though she loves to read and spend time with those she loves. Her piece is in memory of her grandfather who recently passed away and was her hero.

Danielle Mims is a junior pursuing a major in Studio Art with a minor in Graphic Design and Photography. Interior is a study of light and shadow taken from an interesting perspective where angular shapes are created.

Jeffrey (JT) Perek is a senior in Architecture. His poem “Community as Collage” is a transcript of a spoken piece that incorporates layered audio. It is an exploration of what community is and who we are inside of it.

Kaylee Sergeant is a junior majoring in Media Writing with a minor in Communications. “Movable Parts” was one of her favorite papers to write as it stretched her in both artistic style and the ability to tell a story seamlessly.

Madeline Shepherd is a senior majoring in Architecture. She drew inspiration for her work from the nature literature, philosophy, and architecture classes she took in the spring 2022 semester.

Jessica Smith graduated this May with majors in Natural Sciences and Psychology and a Literature minor. Pursuing a career in medicine and science, she is interested in the application of the humanities to medical education and practice. She is the winner of the 2022 Judson University Award for Scholarly Writing.

Grace Stevens is a sophomore majoring in Media Writing. She hopes to enlighten readers about mental health struggles and inspire hope with her work.

Delia Tacheny is a sophomore studying Interior Design with a minor in Architecture. For “Literal Texture,” she enjoyed the freedom to “play” with a variety of mediums, textures, and tools, and organize them in a unifying collage.

Elisa Arce is a sophomore majoring in Architecture with a minor in Studio Arts. She drew inspiration in her work from the idea that unrelated objects can draw interest and make a story when they are together. 

Abigail Belsan

Addison Davila is a graduating senior at Judson University who majored in Worship Arts with a minor in Studio Art. His piece was a response to music done with oil paint, seeing how the body responds to sound with movement. The three genres were the following: Opera, Worship, and Punk Rock.

Nicolette Dobson is a graduating senior who majored in Biology and Chemistry. She is the 1st place winner of the university award for scholarly writing in the sciences. At the Spring 2021 Judson Commencement ceremony, Nikki was awarded the Student Service Award for exceptional service to the community.

Jordan Doering is a senior at Judson University majoring in Secondary Education, with a concentration in English. Originally written for a non-western literature course, his essay is the 1st place winner of the university award for a literary essay. Jordan enjoys writing in his spare time and hopes to one day be an author alongside his career as a teacher.

K.C. Earls is a junior in the Psychology major.

Marissa Joyce is a 2021 graduate from Judson University. She graduated with a BFA in Graphic design and is enjoying her new career in the sign industry.

Kathryn Krafft is a sophomore in the Literature major. She is a fan of Maggie Stiefvater (her favorite author), her dog Coco, and Taylor Swift.

Dezaray Miller is a junior pursuing an Interior Design major with an Architectural Studies minor. Her painting focuses on hierarchy, layering, movement, and the rule of thirds, as well as other techniques she learned in the course Design I.

Bethany Newman is a first-year student pursuing a Studio Art major. Her piece was created to explore certain elements of design including space, texture, and color.

Allyson Smith is a graduating senior in the Architecture major.

Bryan Tripp graduated Spring 2021 with a double major in Music Business & Entrepeneurship, and Business Management.

Katie Valeria is a 2021 graduate of the Judson Art and Design Department. Her senior exhibition, Studies of Intention, was created as a result of her research on human intentionality. In a world dominated by convenience and short-term gratification, her pieces aim to highlight the beauty in things that take the time and energy to build on themselves. When we apply this to our own lives, we realize that long-term happiness is not bought or liked into fruition, but grown.

Anaiah Wilson-Poston is a rising senior studying Worship Arts and Sociology. Her poem reflects the experience that she believes relates to many people, as they find Jesus in the mess of life.
